JUNE, JULY & AUGUST PLAYLIST + WRAP UP
Summertime! The livin’s not easy but it was a blast!
‘Round these parts, we’re returning to some semblance of the old normal as we ease our way back to the office. Love our company for implementing a hybrid work set-up. We’re required to have a couple of days of office stay. The rest of the week is work from home.
I couldn’t stress enough how super, super convenient it is to work from home. I wake up 5 minutes before the shift to clock in bleary-eyed, then have that extra little snooze and wake up again after 10 minutes. Not winning me employee of the month points but gad does it make so much difference to my well-being! Please do not tell my boss.
Fujocon was a riot!
This year, I was more prepared. I was able to catch all the panels I wanted to attend. I was also actively participating in the chats and asking questions. I almost cried with joy when I attended Onley James‘s panel. She answered some of my questions!!!
I asked her if there were any Necessary Evils spin-offs or second generation billionaire vigilantes. There is! Archer’s book, which was just released, featured The Watch, which is going to be the spin-off. Can’t wait to start on Lunatic!
Here’s something I’ve always been dying to know: how old are Thomas and the Mulvaney boys? Onley said it took three people to figure out everyone’s ages since she was a pantser when she started. The ages are tricky since the brothers count their age from when they were adopted. Some of them were already at least 5 or 6 years old when Thomas found them. Everyone’s ages are listed on Onley’s FB page. Thomas is 54 years old now.
Calliope’s identity is a closely held secret, so I asked if any Mulvaney brothers ever met her face to face. It’s not any of the brothers, but Noah would be the one to meet her in the future.
I also gushed about how much I loved Dirty Play, from Wages of Sin, a series she co-authored with Neve Wilder. Onley revealed she doesn’t play well with others, but with Neve, creating the characters of Maddie and Azrael and their dynamics was so much fun.
The other panel I was super excited about was the live drawing + Q&A with Ichikawa Kei. She’s one of my favorites. Her manga, Blue Sky Complex and Colorful Line, slayed me! Everyone was all about BSC. I wanted to ask about her other equally amazing works, especially Colorful Line, the first one I read. Unfortunately, my bedazzled brain couldn’t form a coherent sentence. Sensei has beautiful hands and fabulous nails.
