ENEMIES TO LOVERS

A book you formerly hated/disliked but now love!

THE DOCTOR”S DATE – Heidi Cullinan

I’m currently reading this. I initially hated how miserable things were going for the MCs, Owen and Erin, that I dropped the book. But I couldn’t get the bought-my-biggest-enemy–for-ridiculous-amount-of-money-at-a-bachelor-auction-because-he’s-my-biggest-crush premise out of my head, so I was compelled to pick up where I left off. I’m so glad I did because, while misery is a thing here, it lessened after a while. There were also some of the swooniest scenes I’ve seen! Now, I’m completely riveted. Full review soon.,

SECOND CHANCE

A book you previously did-not-finish but now adore!

HUG IT OUT – Davidson King

I’ve only read Haven Hart recently, but I tried reading this second book a few years back. It didn’t work for me because I was admittedly judge-y of Teddy’s job as a professional hugger. Older me now have a better perspective on things. Also, I discovered how good the books are and inhaled the entire series.

LOVE TRIANGLE

A duology where you love both the books!

SOLNYSHKO DUET by Ashlyn Drewek

I saw the books from a GR rec panel. The Stockholm Syndrome romance, and the word ‘solnyshko’ immediately grabbed my attention. I read the first book in one sitting, and I was so awe-struck by how good it was that I messaged the author, Ashlyn Drewek, gushing like an idiot. Book 2 was slow-going at first but no less amazing, especially when Roan and Sacha started becoming the power couple they were meant to be.

FRIENDS TO LOVERS

A book recommended to you that you enjoyed!

CAPTIVE PRINCE – C.S. Pacat

After Twilight became a thing, YA books were all about special snowflakes and shitty love triangles. It was so bad that I sunk into a three-year slump. The curse was finally broken when a cosplay friend recommended Captive Prince. It was like being Alice and discovering the rabbit hole that is MM romance. So no exaggeration, this book changed my life!

INSTA-LOVE

A book you knew you would love (at first sight)!

PSYCHO – Onley James

The Mulvaney boys are all wonderfully mad with larger-than-life personalities, so it was a tough call picking a favorite. If I had to choose, it would be August, the second oldest, Mensa member since four years old and the most bloodthirsty of ’em all. Also, the most musically obsessed, has autism, is a quantum physicist, and the first Mulvaney brother to be a dad. It’s a stroke of genius that he was paired with a psychic, Lucas.

August is just a super fascinating character that, even before it was released, I already had a feeling his book would be absolutely perfect. And, it was!

THE CHOSEN ONE

Your all-time favorite (of the year/month/,…)!

DEAREST MILTON JAMES & DEAREST MALACHI KEOGH by N.R. Walker
PANOPOLIS by Cari Z

Choosing an all-time favorite book will take me forever, so here are the recent 5-star reads of this year.

FORBIDDEN LOVE

A loved book you don’t talk about often!

SHADOWS OF LONDON – Ariana Nash

I only did one-line reviews of these books. I was feeling lazy at that time. I wish I did a full review because there are so many fascinating things in this series. The plot was suspenseful and so twisty-turny that there were a lot of events I never saw coming.

I loved the characters, especially the MC, Dom. This guy talks about himself like he unworthy and weak, then, BAM! next thing you know, he the baddest badass this side of the East End. I was thrilled to learn his weapon of choice is a deck of cards. Cool characters use playing cards. It has a certain je ne sais quoi, look at Gambit or Hisoka. Also, the romance was a satisfying requiting of a hopeless crush that it made the love triangle bearable.

SECRET BILLIONAIRE

A book you read and enjoyed before you knew it was popular!

STACKING THE DECK – Charlie Cochet

I picked this up because I was in a mood for a second chance, hacker romance. I had no idea this was the opener of a spin-off series and what the main series was. This turned out to be one of the funniest books I’ve read. Not only was I LOLing when I read it, the scenes popped up in my head the next day. I smiling like a loon at work.

Jack, genius hacker and jack of all trades, was apparently part of the brotherhood of ex-special forces turned security specialists, of the uber popular series, Four Kings Security. I can’t begin to describe how ridiculously fun this series and its spin-off, The Kings: Wild Cards are. The characters are so memorable, that even with a huge cast, I could easily recall them and their many quirks.

FOUND FAMILY

Your most cherished books!

SPECTRED ISLE – K.J. Charles
WHERE DEATH MEETS THE DEVIL – L.J. Hayward
HEATED RIVALRY – Rachel Reid
EARTH FATHERS ARE WEIRD – Lyn Gala

My number 1 books from the past years.

FORCED PROXIMITY

A required-reading book you read and enjoyed!

GRILLED CHEESE AND GOBLINS: ADVENTURES OF A SUPERNATURAL FOOD INSPECTOR – Nicole Kimberling

I got this book through Netgalley, so I was required to read and review this. It was definitely no hardship because this was really fun! I’m sad that this is so criminally underrated. The world is immersive and detailed. It is part of Irregulars, a shared world anthology that I also enjoyed.

I want more adventures for Keith, the supernatural food inspector, and his all-around sweetheart of a goblin boyfriend, Gunther. The human is the grumpy one.
