DESERT ISLAND CASTAWAYS: Paulina Ian-Kane
Our favorite MM authors a.k.a. castaways are asked, what books, songs and luxury item would they take to a desert island?
This is a monthly series inspired by LezReviewBooks.com’s ‘Desert Island Books’, which in turn is based on BBC’s ‘Desert Island Discs’.
The rules are fairly simple:
List up to ten books, a playlist and one luxury item that you couldn’t do without on a desert island.
Any type of book can be selected, but I ask that at least half are LGBT+ books. Choices should be justified in a paragraph or two. Any number of songs and any type of music is allowed. The luxury item must be inanimate and of no use in escaping the island or allowing communication from outside.

DESERT ISLAND BOOKS:
1-2-Charlie Sunshine and Spring Strings by Lily Morton, love the way she writes (British English) and the sarcastic humor in all of her books.
3- Whit by Cora Rose, the way the two MCs can’t stop touching each other is a dream.
4-Cheap Shots & Face Off by Eden Finley and Saxon James, because enemies to lovers is one of my favourite trope.
5-6-Just A Bit Gay and Just A Bit Ruthless by Alessandra Hazard, the level of codependency in all her books is amazing
7-8-Heated Rivalry and The Long Game by Rachel Reid, those two books surprised me immensely, never knew what was next.
9-First Impression by Jay Hogan, New Zealand and doctors…enough said!
10-Whatever Lauren Dohner writes. Her books are only MF romance, she has such a stupendous imagination!
DESERT ISLAND PLAYLIST:
When I write I tend to listen to classical and opera arias, it helps me focus. But I’m mostly inspired by classic rock, AC/DC, Clearwater, Foo fighters, Queen of the Stone Age. And country music. Love Dixon Dallas, Chris Stapleton, Morgan Wallen, Maren Morris, Cody Johnson, Elle King and so many more.
LUXURY ITEM
The only item I’d like to have on a desert island is my music. For me that is a luxury item. I could never live without it.
ABOUT PAULINA IAN-KANE
I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t reading a book. Whether it was sci-fi, romance or a detective story didn’t matter, because it was the perfect way to escape from reality for a little while. When I wasn’t reading, I was imagining my own stories, and after a while I started writing them, hoping to give other people that little escape I still enjoy so much.
My books are full of dark humor, spicy, kinky scenes, possessive, obsessed, protective MCs and always happy endings.
I live in Japan with my two kids, and my stinky, super cute Frenchie.
