SOUNDTRACK: Brighter Than Sunshine by Aqualung
Soundtrack to VRC: Vampire Related Crimes: How To Lure A Hunter by Alice Winters
I chose this song for the book because of solnyshko. It’s Russian for “sunny one / my sunshine“. I couldn’t help but melt a little every time Alexei calls Claude that in such an adorably shy way.
I also like the part of the song that goes “Tied up in ancient history / I didnโt believe in destiny / I look up, youโre standing next to me / What a feeling”. It’s how Alexei was trapped in the past and Claude was there in the bright future with him

SOUNDTRACK: Son Of A Preacher Man by The John Does
Soundtrack to Down Home: Down Low by Parker St. John
This Dusty Springfield classic is Cal and Eli’s favorite song when they were teenagers. It was their subtle way of letting the world know about their relationship at the time when they had to keep it a secret. Eli was the literal preacher’s son. This indie rock version from a guy POV are The John Does doing God’s work. Blessed be!

SOUNDTRACK: Run by Foo Fighters
Soundtrack to Double Trouble: Double Or Nothing by Cari Z & L.A. Witt
I used this song for another book last year but I think it’s a very apt song for Rich and Cody on the run. The lyrics go “Run for your life with me“. I especially liked the part “In another perfect life / In another perfect light“. What if had they had meet under different, saner circumstances? What if?

SOUNDTRACK: I Will Wait by Mumford & Sons & All I Wanna Do by Piotr & Sans Kar
Soundtrack to Aster Valley: Winter Waites by Lucy Lennox
Soundtrack to Aster Valley: Right As Raine by Lucy Lennox
I read somewhere that I Will Wait was about Marcus Mumford reconnecting with his childhood pen pal, actress Carey Mulligan. The lyrics “Well I came home / Like a stone / And I fell heavy into your arms / These days of dust / Which we’ve known / Will blow away with this new sun” describes the joy and relief of somebody who’s constantly on the road coming home to the arms of his loved one. It’s a great song for touring musician, Gentry and his husband, Winter.
All I Wanna Do was an easy choice for Raine and Mickey’s story. The lyrics goes “Everywhere I go / I see you beside me / You know you got me feeling / Right as rain“

With a shared past, demonic contract, centuries of snark and actual feelings between them, Miles and Havoc are forever intertwined. Good luck untangling this mess.

SOUNDTRACK: Unfinished Business by White Lies
Soundtrack to Badlands: Loose Ends by Morgan Brice
According to the band, this song is about “a boyfriend’s ghost trying to communicate with the girlfriend who murdered him and has now taken to self harm.” Perfect for a book about lingering ghostly lovers and vengeful exes haunting happy couples.

SOUNDTRACK: The Hands Of A Teacher by Public Affection / Live
Soundtrack to The Brothers Grime: Eddie: Grime Doesn’t Pay by Z.A. Maxfield
This relatively obscure song by Public Affection, better known as the 90s band Live, is THE song for a book where teachers play very significant roles. Eddie, the MC, has a learning disability that caused him to be written off by his teachers. A more perceptive mentor helped him overcome his dyslexia. As an adult, he fell in love with his niece’s teacher.
