QUOTES FROM MY FAVORITE BOOKS (2023)

I’m the type of reader who never highlight passages or memorize quotes. I would go so far as to say, I never really care too much about them. But sometimes, there are words that capture a moment or emotion so perfectly even my forgetful brain couldn’t help but remember the lines and relive all the feels.

Here are unforgettable quotes from my favorite books.

“I enjoy making eye contact with a man across a tavern. Getting that swell in your gut, like the ground has fallen out from under you.”
I tried to swallow, but my throat was parched—dry like animal bones bleaching in the desert sun. “Like you’ve been pinned to the wall.”
Gunner took one step closer to me. “And you realize you share a tendency.”
“Now you’ve got to put it into words.”
Another step. “When it’s right, you don’t need words.”

The Gangster – C.S. Poe

Unguarded Archer was lethal, his words landing with maximum force on Mac’s heart.

Lunatic by Onley James

I’m hit with this overwhelming truth that I’ll never meet anyone as perfect for me as Charles. I drop to my knees, holding his thighs, staring up at him like I can’t believe he’s in front of me. “You fucking own me, Charlie.”

Presidential Chaos by Saxon James

“Can you see me without your glasses?”
He smiled. “Yes. You’re the most beautiful blur I’ve ever seen.”
I laughed and kissed him again, again, and again.

Dearest Milton James by N.R. Walker

“I just want you to want me the way I want you.”
“And how’s that?”
“Overwhelmingly and all-consuming. I want you to feel my absence like you’d feel a knife in your chest. I don’t need you to tell me how you love me. I’m not sure I’d believe it anyway. Love feels obligatory in a relationship. Like you have to say it even if you don’t mean it. Love is just a trite four-letter word. People use it for every fucking thing. They love a movie, a song, a particular cup of coffee. I don’t want to be lumped into a bunch of random shit. What I want is to be accepted and desired. I want to be craved. I want you to feel like you’d be miserable without me.”

Dysfunctional by Isabel Lucero

“I still can’t believe you came home for just eleven minutes.”
“Eleven minutes with the right person is better than a lifetime with the wrong person.” He kissed the sensitive skin behind my ear. “You will always be the right person.”

Cross by S.E. Harmon

I had another decision to make, and quickly. I found the answer in Roan’s wide blue eyes. Keeping my gaze locked on his, I dropped to one knee and then the other, facing him and him alone. The ultimate possession of submission, the sacrifice of my pride, and the loudest declaration of my feelings for the boy in front of me. If I was going to die, at least it would be on my terms.
“I kneel for no one,” I repeated, gazing up at Roan, “except the one I love.”

The Kidnapping of Roan Sinclair by Ashlyn Drewek

“You and me, Jules. Always. The way it should be.”

Thick as Thieves by Lucy Lennox

“Jesus, they were like a desert thunderstorm, all wildfire and fury, the world splintering apart in a cataclysm before being reborn.”

Never Stay Gone by Tal Bauer

“If I could kill you, I would, but, somehow, you would manage to take a piece of me with you.”

Play Dirty by Onley James

“You forgot how valuable you are, little owl, but you can learn again.”

Winter of the Owl by Iris Foxglove

“They’re fucking monsters,” Lucas whispered, almost to himself.
“Yeah, but you’ve got me and I’m the monster other monsters fear.”

Psycho by Onley James

“Remembrance is the greatest act of love there is. Because… because no one is truly dead and gone, so long as someone remembers them.”

Madison Square Murders by C.S. Poe

“Mac blinked. That smile should be registered as a deadly weapon.”

Life Lessons by Kaje Harper

“Of course, it matters. I don’t know what I am.”
“You’re Rhett.” I point to him, completely serious. “Moody asshole, decent artist, really good kisser. Rhett.”

Hostile by Nicole Dykes

“And he owned a lot of books, although just now and then, when it got dark and the shelves loomed over him, he got the feeling that they owned him.”

Slippery Creatures by K.J. Charles
