ANYTHING BUT BOOKS TAG

This is tag about anything not book-related. Found this at The Caffeinated Bookworm Life.

This introduction is a testament to my complete lack of small talk skills. Yes, most of the time, I don’t know what to say.

So without further ado, hey ho, let’s go!

1. NAME A CARTOON THAT YOU LOVE.

I used to watch a lot of anime but nowadays I haven’t seen many that can hold my attention. One of the rare ones I loved recently was Mob Psycho, an anime about a very average middle school kid with extremely powerful psychic abilities. Very twisty and hilarious.

Of course, there’s my usual Boy’s Love fare like Dramatical Murder, Doukyuusei, Yuri On Ice, Junjou Romantica and Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi.

2. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SONG RIGHT NOW?

I recently discovered Jonathan Bree and I got obsessed with his songs. I loved the combination of bitter lyrics and upbeat melody of Valentine.

Loving Young The Giant’s Superposition, Heat Of The Summer and Silvertongue.

Superposition has beautiful lyrics.

Also on constant rotation: Ubu by Methyl Ethyl, Aawake At Night by Half Alive, Vertigo by Mini Mansions, Summer’s Song and Trick Of The Light by Villagers.

I love indie and all it’s previous incarnations. My only frustration is that I can never learn how to play musical instrument. It’s like my fingers simply refused to move properly. I’m cursed!!!

3. WHAT COULD YOU DO FOR HOURS THAT ISN’T READING?

Close-circuit walking around our dining room table with music at full blast to keep me from being bored.

We have a longish dining table that sits eight and I am desperate to lose weight but I don’t want to go outdoors because I hate the sun. So I walk round and round the table for an hour or two while playing all my favorite songs. I definitely make sure the curtains are closed so I don’t end up on somebody’s Youtube video because it’s all very weird.

I also watch a lot of what’s in my bag videos because I love collecting bags. And according to my ‘research’, Japanese Youtubers tend to use pouches and more pouches to keep their bags organized, they also use a lot of kawaii characters merchandise compared to Youtubers from other countries who prefer plainer, more mature designs and most of them never show their faces on screen. They’re so protective of their privacy, they even disguise their voice.

When I’m not watching those videos, I play a mobile dress up game called Star Girl Fashion Cocoppa Play. This game curbs my urge to spend ridiculous amount of money on clothes. I also play this when I’m on an audiobook.

4. WHAT IS SOMETHING YOU LOVE TO DO THAT YOUR FOLLOWERS WOULD BE SURPRISED BY?

I almost never even get to do it because nobody would ever want me to do it to them more than once but I love to cut hair. I got frustrated by all the hairstylists not getting my haircut right so I studied haircutting under a Japanese hairstylist during the 2000s. I didn’t get enough practice because people would hardly trust an amateur with their precious hair. Couldn’t blame them. There was a time, I accidentally cut a friends’ ear during practice but fortunately, he was a good sport about it.

On the upside, I can tell my hairstylist exactly how I want my hair to be done.

6. WHAT IS SOMETHING UNUSUAL THAT YOU KNOW HOW TO DO?

I can speak three languages: English, our national language and my own region’s native dialect. I can also understand another dialect but I can’t speak it. Strangely enough, I am used to reading and writing English. Reading and writing the other languages feel awkward although we text and talk with each other in our native tongues.

7. NAME SOMETHING YOU MADE IN THE LAST YEAR AND SHOW US IF YOU CAN.

I learned how to cook eggplant parmigiana last year but sorry, I didn’t take any pictures.

8. WHAT IS YOUR MOST RECENT PERSONAL PROJECT?

I haven’t started on it yet but I’m planning to learn how to be a DJ. I installed Virtual DJ on my laptop and I’m still figuring out what’s what. This is yet another attempt at doing something musical as oppose to just listening to music because I always wanted to be in a band.

9. TELL US SOMETHING THAT YOU THINK ABOUT OFTEN?

I don’t know how to answer this question because I am prone to repetitive thoughts. Barring those nonsensical brain shenanigans, I usually think about gah…what do I think about?!

10. GIVE US SOMETHING THAT IS YOUR FAVORITE.

I post a lot of glbt movie trailers here but I rarely watched those movies because most are either tragic and sad or cheating is involved which sucked because why can’t there be more happy gay movies. So I’d like to share a couple of my faves:

This is one of the most beautiful movie I have ever seen. I love how it lets the story unfold without manipulating the audience. The cinematography captured Yorkshire countryside perfectly. The acting was superb and I couldn’t get enough of the story. I loved it so much I watched it 4 times in quick succession. The Yorkshire accent was a challenge though, so I had to watch it with subtitles.

From the looks of things in the trailer, this one has the makings of a tragic heartbreaking story so I didn’t watch it at first until I read somewhere that surprise, surprise, this has a happy ending! I got to it immediately. LOVED IT! It’s quiet and soft. The best kind of young adult/new adult love story.

Gay gangsters is a favorite trope in MM but what if it happens in real life?

Burnt Money is based on real life Argentinian gangsters who were allegedly lovers. This does not end happily and there’s cheating but it’s such a passionate bittersweet movie. And Angel and Nene were together in the end. Try not to cry.

11. SAY THE FIRST THING THAT POPS INTO YOUR HEAD.

I’m sleepy.

I hope you enjoy reading this post. What’s your favorite LGBTQ movie? Do you have any unusual talents or weird habits? What do you love to do when you’re not reading?

Feel free to tag yourselves.
