While also in the pursuit of a genetic ark offers the last hope for survival in the face of impending apocalypse.
EXCERPT:
Clare gently takes Eve’s hand and guides her to sit against the wall.
The way she views Eve’s altered features—with acceptance and even affection—shows that she has rescued her from her own worst impulses before and still loves her dearly, despite, or perhaps even because of her self-destructiveness.
Lilith wishes more than anything in the world that she had someone to accept her unconditionally, even if they knew she was a sex slave and a sea slug beneath the pretty face, figure, and lies.
Lilith can no longer keep her eyes open, though someone she knows is Clare from her gentle touch runs her hands over her wounds and lays her down on a pillow.
Clare or Eve or maybe both kiss her, and whether it’s the shock or something they gave her, she falls directly into a dreamless sleep.
When Lilith wakes, the sky peeking through the roof is blue, the men, women, and corpses are gone, and Eve sits in front of Lilith in her county jumpsuit and black Converse, her face and body unmarred.
The cats surround her, snuggling their cheeks against her limbs.
The only clue of what happened the night before is her missing pearls.
“Hello, sleeping beauty,” Eve says, giving her a light kiss on her still-healing cheeks.
The kiss feels so much more intimate than her rutting with Nate—who never even bothered to kiss her while she was saving his life — and inspires in her a desire to kiss Eve back, to open her lips and arms and legs — even her diffused heart—and please her every want, need, and desire.
But Eve isn’t checking her out or admiring her face; there is something more in her gaze that communicates both longing and indifference, as if she already loves her but doesn’t want anything from her. Lilith has never met anyone who didn’t want something from her, or who didn’t want everything, except Fatima.
Still, Lilith takes her hand in hers and brings it to where her heart would be if she were human.

Who is Lilith…
Lilith is a zek, a genetically engineered sex slave in a post-collapse dystopian society of the future. Like the ones bred before her, she believes she must only do what she is told to live. And that is to accomplish her first mission. Designed to be beautiful, she struggles with self-criticism and her place in this world. Could this be it for her and society? Is the world really going to end because of greed, war, and inhumanity?
After her disastrous first mission, she feels betrayed and discovers secrets behind the global game of power and how she is just a pawn, but also how she might become a queen, even the savior of all the new species in a new world; The Oasis.
Inspired by a longing for peace and driven by a hope for a new future, Lilith must harness her abilities, discover her true origins, and find the genetic ark that will survive the apocalypse and birth a new world.
Set in the dystopian metropolis of New Los Angeles, join Lilith on her first mission in Amirkha, discover the true masters behind the scenes who manipulate humans, zeks, khets, and even fallen angels, and survive the Kali Yuga and seek the Oasis.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Wine Lo Borgias
I am what Thais would call a Kathoey or Ladyboy since I was born in a boy’s body, but felt like a girl even at a young age and my farmer parents in Isan let me dress as a girl until I reached puberty and then realized it wasn’t a phase and kicked me out of the house at fourteen.
I begged for money on the side of the road and a kind monk gave me bus fare to Bangkok and enough extra to pay a week’s rent and feed myself for a day. I got a cheap room with a mattress with no windows under the Skytrain and could only sleep from midnight to six am when it didn’t run though I could still hear drunks screaming outside.
I sold incense on the street and started teaching myself English talking with tourists and by reading an old dog-eared copy of Thoreau’s Walden. I didn’t understand most of the words so would look them up and his description of life in 19th century pastoral America seemed like a fairy tale as I sat on the street corner reading by street light in Krungthep: the City of Angels.
When I turned seventeen, I became a bar girl and over the next ten years and often aty the same time was a taxi driver, plumber (self-taught), Muay Thai fighter and instructor (8-2), visual artist and Grab driver. I was also briefly addicted to ya ba (smokable speed) while a bar girl, Grab driver, and visual artist making anon graffiti throughout Bangkok.
I often had to deal with aggressive men who were a lot bigger than I am and I had to think on my feet just to survive, but still, several times bad things happened and talking to other girls I realized I was not alone. Some of those experiences from being a bar girl, both good and bad, inform the life of the zek characters in Lilith
My American boyfriend helped me get clean and sober with the help of N.A. and I started writing short stories based on people I met in Bangkok including clients, madams, police, boyfriends and girlfriends, and even the psychiatrists I met both as clients and my therapists.
As a bar girl, I noticed that both the Americans and Chinese men (some who were high raking officials) were obsessed with each other, the strengths and weaknesses of their cultures, and the coming conflict between their countries.
I got to thinking about how ordinary, everyday people get caught up in historical events when they are often just looking to get through the day or night (i.e. complete their mission), find friendship, family and meaning, and sometimes against all odds: love.
I hope you enjoy Lilith.
I put my heart and soul into it to try to connect with other people I will never meet in real life, but am connected to by the heart.
