THE RANDOMNESS TAG

I found this tag interesting because it’s a novel way of telling people about yourself. I’ll be asking myself random questions, and you guys could learn a little something about me.

I found this tag at MaggieDoddles.

Here are the rules:

Rules:

Thank the person that nominated you, and add a link to their post!

Add a link to the original post!

Ask YOURSELF 5 questions to answer!

Why are you so amazing?

Nominate as many people as you want!

It’s supposed to be only five questions, but I’m making it ten because I’m skipping the “Why are you so amazing?” part. I don’t know how to answer that.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE NON-MM ROMANCE BOOK?

I haven’t read anything outside the MM romance genre for some years now. But I remember, I used to be obsessed with the Night Watch series by Sergey Lukyanenko. I have also read Gormenghast by Mervyn Peak several times. And I collected Clive Barker books too. I also adore the Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch.

HAVE YOU EVER WRITTEN A SONG?

I don’t know how to play any musical instrument, but I have written a song. We were required to make one for our speech and drama class in high school. I came up with it while in the shower. It sounded silly and nursery rhyme-ish. The title is “I’m Your New Pet Dog.” It goes like this:

Come and see what I can do
I can sit, play dead if that will do
Impress you
I’m your new pet dog

My HS classmates still remember the first stanza to this day. Sometimes they tease me about it when we get together. What they didn’t know was it was, essentially, a song about bullying because I was pissed at a bossy classmate at that time.

WHICH FICTIONAL CHARACTER WOULD YOU NAME YOUR CHILD AFTER?

Sometimes it crosses my mind that if ever I decide to adopt a child, I’d name them Elijah Crowe from a character in the Mnevermind Trilogy by Jordan Castillo Price. He was a wonderful and amazingly strong character who had autism. The way he overcame his challenges and thrived was inspiring. Also, he had a supercool first appearance where he disappeared from virtual memory in a puff of black feathers.

Other times, I want to name them Ethan Blade from the Death and the Devil series by L.J. Hayward. Ethan was a cinnamon roll assassin and just plain adorable. Also, Blade is a pretty cool name.

Then if the kid grows up and decides to get a tattoo, they can have a badass design based on their name.

WHAT ACTIVITIES DO YOU ENJOY BUT DON’T GET TO DO OFTEN?

I enjoy playing Mahjong, but I don’t have many opportunities to play. Mahjong here is usually played during wakes because we have a belief not to sleep when there’s a wake. It helps keep people entertained during these moments.

Also, Mahjong during regular times is usually for hardcore gamblers. I’m not skilled or rich enough to compete with these so-called “professionals.”

I also love fashion styling. One of my friends used to ask me to go shopping with her because she appreciated the outfits I put together for her. Sadly, I have moved to another city, so I don’t get to do it anymore.

I have mentioned this several times, I like cutting hair. I cut my hair and those of my family members ever since the pandemic started. This is another activity I enjoy very much but don’t get to do often because not many people wouldn’t trust an amateur like me with their hair.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE POP/MAINSTREAM SONG?

I’m very much into indie and alternative stuff ever since the 90s. I very, very rarely get into pop or mainstream. However, I like Montero by Lil Nas and Bad Romance by Lady Gaga. I loved their music videos too.

WHAT’S THE MOST OUT OF THE COMFORT ZONE THING YOU HAVE EVER DONE?

During my cosplay days, I did a lot of things that were outside of my comfort zone, like wearing makeup and presenting the character in front of a crowd. But the most daring thing was probably singing and dancing on stage.

As much as I love music, I have never sang in front of an audience, not even karaoke with friends. Also, I would rather die before doing any kind of dancing whatsoever. But I was roped into a Final Fantasy group cosplay and already committed before I realized what they planned to do for the presentation. Needless to say, I have learned my lesson and chosen very carefully which group to join ever since.

WHICH STEVE BUSCEMI CHARACTER SHOULD GET THEIR OWN MOVIE?

Steve Buscemi is my favorite actor. Many times, I suffered through shitty movies, like Armageddon, just to see him. Many times, I wish the movie was about his character instead of the boring main character.

Mr. Pink was one of his best. I love Reservoir Dogs, and I couldn’t help wishing that there was a spin-off for Mr. Pink. I’d like to see what happened to him after the heist or maybe just a slice of life story about his misadventures.

Garland Green is another character that fascinated me. I hate Nicolas Cage and only enjoyed Con Air because of the other, more interesting people there. It would be interesting to see Garland Green out in the wilds. Where would he go? What would he do?

IF YOU COULD WEAR ONE OUTFIT FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

I’d wear something Japanese and gothic/punk like these:

Then, I’d go on a quest.

WHAT IS A BAD HABIT YOU HAVE?

I’m a chronic nail-biter. I have carried the habit well into adulthood. I have it under control now, but I still have super short nails.

WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU’RE NOT READING OR BLOGGING?

I watch an insane amount of What’s In My Bag videos on Youtube. I love collecting bags. Not designer brands, just regular ones that appeal to me and are reasonably priced. And for some reason, I’m obsessed with organizing the contents. I enjoy watching the videos because not only do I see different bags, I like imagining how the contents would be organized.

Recently, I’ve been working on the website, video ads, and teasers for our planned chocolate business. It’s something I had to give myself a crash course on. My sibling and I are both newbies when it comes to everything about the food business and have full-time jobs so we’re learning on the fly. Fortunately, we have a cousin who has her own bakery so we can ask her input.

We have settled on April 8 as the launch date. They say 8 is lucky, and we should choose a date with an 8 on it. We still have a lot to work on. We’re only going to be local, but I’m still excited to share the launching with you all.
