Batty Boy is an uncompromising short film exploring the complexities of the black gay coming out experience through the eyes of young Dolcie a Black British gay boy of Caribbean heritage as he faces the struggles of fitting in with a community posing strong cultural homophobic beliefs. Set against the backdrop of a dancehall black gay clubbing scene a homophobic song being played triggers Dolcie to remember a series of intense past memories that were influential in setting him on the path to becoming an openly Black gay man.
