In the shadowed streets of Edinburgh, Joshua, an introverted American literature student, lives between two worlds. By day, he immerses himself in the passionate romances of 19th-century novels, yearning for a love that seems to exist only in weathered pages. By night, he performs for anonymous viewers online, trading digital intimacy for rent money.

As a gay American abroad, Joshua’s search for genuine connection is complicated by his growing disconnect between virtual and real life. While his beloved books speak of transcendent love, his modern reality offers only fleeting digital encounters.
