Character Interview

NAME OF CHARACTER: Dale Sean Lusk

TITLE OF BOOK: Play Chopin For Me

What is your profession?

I’m a Chef. I have a restaurant in New York City, or had. It burned down, but is not being rebuilt.

Tell me about your best friend.

My best friend has to be my sister. We’ve always been close. Our mother was killed in the 9/11 attack. Chrissie, my sister, was still a little girl, and I was only a teenager at the time. I think my dad was lost after my mom died. He had no idea of what to do with two kids.

What’s the most important thing in your life?

My sister, of course, and I’d say the friends I’ve made after my restaurant burned down to the ground. But most importantly, it is my new boyfriend, Albert.

What are you most afraid of?

Letting people who depend on me down.

What do you value the most?

My relationships now. I used to think it was my restaurant.

Favorite food:

Ha, I have a lot of favorites. I love French country cuisine, especially. I got to live out that dream of traveling around the countryside of France.

What was your first thought or impression when you met the person you fell in love with?

My first thought was how uptight he was and how he guarded himself. Al had a wall up nearly all the time. It took considerable effort to break through. In the end, it worked out. We’re still together and I’m still in love with him.

What would you change about the person you fell in love with?

His past. If there was one thing in this world that I could change, that would be it. Oh, and replace the toilet paper roll.

What do you like most about the person you fell in love with?

His pure nature. There are times I think he’s a child who was never exposed to the real world. His piano playing is awesome. There is one piece that he plays, and I know it is playtime for us. Sex in the piano room is spectacular!

What would you change about yourself?

My hair. It never does what I want it to.
