    SERIES STUFF: Ongoing Series

Series Stuff was inspired by this post by Paperback and Planners. It lists the series I’ve started, those I’ve finished, the ongoing ones and those I couldn’t be bothered with anymore.

I wanted to do everything all together then realized it was going to be one long ass post because I have too many series in my reading list. I decided to break it down into four separate posts.

There are a LOT of ongoing series in my TBR and more to come because let’s face it, I’m a serial series starter. Finishing a series? Not so much. Some of those in the list, I’m already down to the last book but just had to procrastinate as usual.

Click on the links for the reviews.

For series I’ve started, check out Begin the Begin.
For series I’ve finished, see The Finished Ones.
For series I’ve discontinued see Series I Dropped

The Vampire’s Club by X. Aratare – I’m currently in the middle of book 6. I’m disappointed they changed narrators but happily, Kieran Flitton is doing good job filling in Ethan Holtan’s shoes.

Psycop by Jordan Castillo Price – I LOVE Vic. He’s one of my favorite ‘voices’ when it comes to POVs. But for some reason, I still couldn’t find the mood to pick up book 7, Spook Squad. Not dropping this. No no no. I swear I’ll come back, Vic!

Holmes & Moriarity by Josh Lanyon – waiting, waiting, waiting to hear news of whatever new mess Kit gets himself into. Expected publication of book 5, The 12.2-Per-Cent Solution, is 2021.

Warriors of Rome by Various – I’ve read the first book, Left Hand of Calvus by L.A. Witt, which blew me away. I’m not sure if the other offerings would be as intense but I wouldn’t say no to reading the other books.

Whyborne & Griffin by Jordan L. Hawk – I’m on the very last book. I would like to say I’m not yet ready to say goodbye to the gang but truth is, yes, it’s the mood thing again.

SPECTR by Jordan L. Hawk – I love Caleb, John and especially Grey but somehow book 6, Summoner of Storms wasn’t holding my attention. It didn’t help that I also wasn’t feeling the narrator style. Still hoping to get back to this someday.

The Artifact by X. Aratare – The first book had a measly 2-rating but I’m a sucker for X. Aratare so I’m sticking around.

Tyack & Frayne by Harper Fox – This is one of those series I put on indefinite hold while waiting for that spark of interest to reignite.

Nothing Special by A.E. Via – Definitely sticking around for God and his boys. My grabby hands are out for that Ex Meridian audiobook because of narrator, Aidan Snow.

The Shamwell Tales by J.L. Merrow – A series of enjoyable stories with British humor which I really liked. I’ve finished Caught! and Played!. I’m hoping I could do a series review of this someday.

Think of England by K.J. Charles – This was originally planned as a series but somehow ended up in limbo. I’m not giving up yet on the next book yet.

Hexworld by Jordan L. Hawk – I’m heavily invested in the fate of these witches and familiars, I couldn’t walk away from this series even if I tried

The Bounty Hunters by A.E. Via – Even with a problematic 5th book, I don’t see myself walking away from Duke and his boys anytime soon.

Unbreakable Bonds by Jocelyn Drake & Rinda Elliott – I love the Unbreakable boys too much to even consider dropping this series. Even if sometimes things get a little to OTT. I’m currently on Blaze, Lucas and Andrei’s second book.

The Art of Murder by Josh Lanyon – One of Josh Lanyon’s most riveting series that I’m happily committed to. I’m currently on the fourth book, The Monument Men Murders.

Green Creek by T.J. Klune – I’m howling with the wolves from start to finish. I need to get my dirty claws on Brothersong soon or I’ll go feral.

Blake Harte Mysteries by Robert Innes – I really liked this little British whodunnit series with it’s locked room mysteries and charming characters. I’ve finished book 4, Reach. There are ten books out already but I’d happily read ten more.

Bad Behavior by L.A. Witt & Cari Z – I thought the series was over but happily the authors decided to write more books. YES!!! THANK YOU!!!

Bureau by Kim Fielding – A paranormal series about various supernatural creatures. I finished until book 3, Creature. This is one of the best Kim Fielding stories for me so I have high hopes for the rest of the series.

Montague Siblings by Mackenzi Lee – Monty’s book’s good if a little too meandering for my taste. I’m just don’t like reading about journeys. Monty and Percy? I live for these boys! I still need to get my hands on Felicity’s and Adrian’s books.

The King & Alpha by A.E. Via – Truth be told, the stories were kind of OTT but that’s Ms. V for you. They also satisfy my yen for vampire+shifter mergers. Basically, I’m reading this for the characters.

Seven of Spades by Cordelia Kingsbridge – This is a very well-written serial killer mystery. The only reason I’m stuck in the opening chapter of book 4, One-Eyed Royal, was because I was annoyed with everyone sticking their nose in Levi and Dom’s relationship woes.

Ward Security by Jocelynn Drake & Rinda Elliott – Waiting for the audiobook of book 5, Killer Bond, because I always enjoyed Kenneth Obi’s narrations.

Hazard & Somerset by Gregory Ashe – Putting book 6, Criminal Past, on hold because Hazard’s POV got a little too much for me. I love these two dorks so when I get past my petty issues, I’ll pick this up again.

The Rowan Harbor Cycle by Sam Burns – I got stuck in book 4, Devon’s book because I was bored. Thinking of just dropping it and moving on to Jesse’s book.

Cold Case Psychic by Pandora Pine – I was kind of meh with the first book, Dead Speak, but since the sequel, Dead Reckoning, showed improvements, I’m sticking with this for now.

Big Bad Wolf by Charlie Adhara – I was stuck in the middle of Thrown to the Wolves for the longest time. Until, I had a sudden yen for Park and Coop’s dysfunctional dynamics once again. The ending was so worth it. Now I’m excited for book 4.

Witchbane by Morgan Brice – This is another series with just ok stories that for some reason I’m stubbornly committing to. I think the overarching thread was good enough but not sure for how long I would stick around.

Death and the Devil by L.J. Hayward – I love Ethan Blade!!! So much that when you say assassin, he’s the guy that comes to mind. I’m willing to wait for the audiobooks just so I could hear his voice.

Flesh and Bone by Joel Abernathy – This is a super intense and quite dark shifter series. The second book, Bleed, even edged towards horror territory. It was my favorite. Can’t wait to read the third book.

Badlands by Morgan Brice – Wow, just how many psychic procedurals do I have?! Well, here’s another one.

The Ellwood Chronicles by Michele Notaro – You couldn’t help but love the Ellwoods. Currently on the final book, The Enchanter’s Heart.

Pro & Cons by A.E. Wasp – Charlie’s boys are all lovable but I’m really here for Carson.

Game Changers by Rachel Reid – I love Rachel Reid’s hockey boys. Sightings of Rozanov and Shane are always welcome. Still hoping to get my hands on book 3, Tough Guy.

New Milton by Sally Malcolm – I was completely charmed by this series. Sally Malcolm is one of the few authors who can make me read pure contemporary romance and make me love it.

Soulbound by Hailey Turner – The scope of the whole series is so damn epic that quite frankly, I’m overwhelmed. I need to get in the zone first before I tackle the third book.

The ABCs of Spellcraft by Jordan Castillo Price – Very much here for more of Dixon’s and Yuri’s misadventures

Fog City by Layla Reyne – Rooting very hard for the Madigan siblings. I’ve actually just finished the final book, A New Empire. Will be posting the review soon.

Paul Monroe Mystery by A.P. Eisen – This police procedural has it’s own understated charm that keeps me excited for the next book.

Bedknobs and Broomsticks by Josh Lanyon – I really like this witchy little cozy and I’m excited to see where the author takes this.

Hope you enjoy this ever-growing list of series. How many series do you have on your TBR? What’s your favorite ongoing series so far?

    SERIES STUFF: Series I Dropped.

When it comes to a series, it doesn’t take long for me to decide whether to continue or not. I tend to drop a series early. Usually, it doesn’t go beyond the first book. Here’s a list of series I discontinued.

Click on the links for the reviews.

For series I’ve started, check out Begin the Begin.
For series I’ve finished, see The Finished Ones.

    DROPPED

Kria by Megan Derr – The first book, Prisoner, pretty much blew me away but the second book, Bound, turned me off. It was so boring. Didn’t bother with the third one.

The Forestry Series by Silvia VioletHis True Nature was one of the blandest series openers I’ve come across with so I didn’t bother with the rest.

Lost Shifters by Megan Derr – Not feeling the first book at all. It was so blah.

Enlightenment by Joanna Chambers – Not feeling the supposedly mysterious love interest who came across as cardboard. Shipping the MC with another guy. Not a good introduction to a series.

Cronin’s Key by N.R. Walker – An example of a series with outstanding first book and terrible sequel.

Creekwood/Simonverse by Becky Albertalli – Not feeling Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens’ Agenda so I won’t be reading the others.

Soldati Hearts by Charlie Cochet – Not the best example of the shifter genre or the author’s work

World’s End by Kai Tyler – The first book had a good premise wasted by a poor execution.

Crossroads by Riley Hart – I read the second book, Shifting Gears. It’s an example of things I don’t like in contemporary romance, chief of which, that feeling like there’s nothing going on in the story.

Timekeeper by Tara Sim – Maybe I’ve outgrown the YA genre. Maybe the book wasn’t that good. I think I wouldn’t be interested in the sequel.

The Yakuza Path by Amy Tasukada – I’ve enjoyed some parts of Blood Stained Tea to finish the book. But I’m not sufficiently motivated enough to follow Nao on his next adventure.

San Andreas Shifters by G.L. Carriger – It was so bad I couldn’t even finish the first book.

Would It Be Okay To Love You? by Amy Tasukada – The first book was okay but I’m just not a fan of the author’s writing style.

It’s not a lot and I haven’t dropped any series recently. I’m tend to be diligent in finishing a series once I commit. How patient are you when it comes to finishing a series? How many series have you DNF’ed?

    SERIES STUFF: The Finished Ones

Series Stuff was inspired by this post by Paperback and Planners. It lists the series I’ve started, those I’ve finished, the ongoing ones and those I couldn’t be bothered with anymore.

I wanted to do everything all together then realized it was going to be one long ass post because I have too many series in my reading list. I decided to break it down into four separate posts.

This is a list of series that I, the moodiest of mood readers, actually finished! Halle-fuckin-luyah! Most series have only 3 books or so, so it’s easy to keep up. I only considered the primary works. Be warned there are a lot of K.J. Charles in there.

Click on the links for the reviews.

For series I’ve started, check out Begin the Begin.

    FINISHED

Falling Sky by L.A. Witt – I enjoyed the first book, A Chip in His Shoulder, so much I immediately grabbed Something New Under the Sun. It helps that there are only two book and both were awesome so I was able to finish this.

Mnevermind by Jordan Castillo Price – This series was pretty much perfect. I stood no chance of resisting. This is the series that gave us that beautiful creature, Elijah Crowe.

The Auspicious Troubles of Love by Charlie Cochet – I don’t know if the author still plans to write more books considering the last book was published 2013. I hope she would, I love this series. I’m tagging this as finished as of now.

Speechless by Kim Fielding – another brilliant series published 2013. The author left enough openings if she wants to add more stories. I’m really hoping she’d would revisit Travis and Drew. I’m also tagging this as finished as of now.

Captive Prince by C.S. Pacat– Not only did I finished the entire series plus the short stories, I read them multiple times. That. Good.

A Charm of Magpies by K.J. Charles – Finished it. Loved it. Begging for more.

The Secret Casebook of Simon Feximal by K.J. Charles – Finished it. Loved it. Begging for more. II

Mechanical Universe by E.E. Ottoman – a passable attempt at a steampunk series. I enjoyed the first book, A Matter of Disagreement but the rest were so-so.

Tork & Adam by Claire Davis & Al Stewart – One of the most heartwarming holiday series I’ve read. The first two books were the standouts.

Candy Man by Amy Lane – A contemporary romance series I was able to see through from start to finish. A rare feat because I’m not huge fan of the genre.

Society of Gentlemen by K.J. Charles – These are the books that gave us the foxy valet, David Cyprian. Another memorable K.J. Charles series that left me begging for more. If it’s not obvious by now, I’m a huge fan of the author.

How to Be by T.J. Klune – Love TJ for giving us outgoing asexual hipsters and their adorkable boyfriends. With two books released and no news of upcoming ones, I’m tagging this as finished.

Turner Series by Cat Sebastian – One of my most beloved historical series. I read this when I first started out in MM. I still remember various scenes up to this day.

Sins of the Cities by K.J Charles K.J. Charles has a way of making you commit to her books even if they’re not a favorite. Not that I’m saying Sins of the Cities is bad. In fact, it’s really, really good. Just not as clever as the others.

The Community by Santino Hassell – A series about psychics that not’s a procedural. My favorite was the second book. The first and third books were 2-stars but I cared enough about the psychics to see the whole thing through.

Agents Irish & Whiskey by Layla Reyne – I wasn’t even wowed with the stories itself but Layla Reyne‘s particular brand of sorcery was very effective in making me care about her characters that I finished the entire series. And the spinoffs.

Trouble Brewing by Layle Reyne – The spinoff that’s better than the original.

The Agency by Ada Marie Soto – I was so moved by this quiet little series that I wrote to the author.

Exit Strategy by Jocelynn Drake – Justin and Gabriel is my favoritest pair of mercenary boyfriends ever!

Bad Valentine by Various – This is a multi-author series with books opening with “Nothing good ever came of a Valentine.”. I loved all the stories except for book 4.

Well, it’s not as many as I would have liked but not as few as I have originally thought. How are you at finishing a series? What series have you completed recently?

    SERIES STUFF: Begin the Begin

Series Stuff was inspired by this post by Paperback and Planners. It lists the series I’ve started, those I’ve finished, the ongoing ones and those I couldn’t be bothered with anymore.

I wanted to do everything all together then realized it was going to be one long ass post because I have too many series in my reading list. I decided to break it down into four separate posts. The first is about the series I’ve started on.

Click on the links for the reviews.

The Hawthorne Throne by Kaitlyn Adbou – the sequel is still nowhere near in sight. The Unseelie Prince was a 3-star book and I am sufficiently intrigued enough with Noah’s fate in the hands of the devious Fearghas to want to continue.

Tigers and Devils by Sean Kennedy – this is one of those sports romance books I actually enjoyed. Still waiting for that urge to pick up book 2 because I’m that terrible a mood reader.

Innocent by Victoria Sue – A historical series with only two books out. I don’t know if the author will continue this or if this is finished. I liked the first book, The Innocent Auction, so I will read the second book.

Death and Destruction by Patricia Logan – Another one of those action-packed partners-to-lovers thing I started on. Here’s hoping I’ll commit.

Snow & Winter by C.S. Poe – This series is an homage to Josh Lanyon’s Adrien English series with dare I say, a better, more likable love interest. I enjoyed the first book, The Mystery of Nevermore, so I’m looking forward to the next ones.

Sidekick Squad by C.B. Lee – The first book, Not Your Sidekick, was an OK take on the superhero genre with a cute FF couple and a trans secondary character. Who in turn is the star of the second book. Definitely will be picking that up too.

Signs of Love by Anyta SundayLeo Loves Aries was one of the best books of 2019 for me. I just started on the second book, Scorpio Hated Virgo, which was touted as an enemies to lovers story. Unfortunately, there wasn’t even a smidgeon of hate between the two protagonist to consider them as enemies. I don’t know, maybe I should go straight to the third book.

Psychic Detective Mysteries by S.C. Wynne – One of the many psychic procedurals on my reading list. I finished Shadow’s Edge mostly on the strength of Kale William’s narration. I’d willingly listen to the second book just to hear him again.

Green Men by K.J. Charles – Anybody who’s read the About Me page knows that Spectred Isle is my all time favorite book. Sadly, this series seems to have fallen into a limbo because the author has still not released the sequel. I’m keeping my hopes alive because I love the green men too much.

Tensorate by J.Y. Yang – I read The Black Tides of Heaven because I really love the cover art. The premise was super cool. The story itself was ok. Not sure if I would read the second book but I’m not writing this off yet.

The Kingston Cycle by C.L. Polk – I was enchanted by the alternate Edwardian world of Witchmark so I’m looking forward to the sequel.

Not Dead Yet by Jenn Burke – I’m not a particular fan of the MC’s narrative voice but this paranormal series has an interesting take on the ghost lover trope that’s worth exploring.

Marital Bliss by D.J. Jamison – This series is showing a lot promise. Surprise Groom was a really well-executed take on the fake relationship trope.

Out of Darkness by Britanny Cournoyer – This stalker series started off with a bang. Captivated was very riveting and suspenseful.

Ramen Assassin by Rhys Ford – I liked the premise. Book one didn’t blow me away but I liked it well enough to continue

The Hitman’s Guide by Alice WintersThe Hitman’s Guide to Making Friends and Finding Love was my introduction to Alice Winters brand of snark. I’m hooked.

Future Series by Kate Hawthorne & E.M. Denning – The blurb for book 3, Future Ex-Enemy, grabbed my attention. It turned out to be one of the best enemies-to-lovers stories I’ve ever read. Now I have to read the first two books.

Paranormal Princes by Charlie CochetThe Prince and His Bedeviled Bodyguard was totally adorbs!!! But don’t tell Owin I said that. Now I just need to meet the other princes.

Hamarrson & Dempsey by Elle KeatonConspiracy Theory is a book with a cover that does not do it justice. Why put some random bare torso when you can put something more significant. Nonethless, it’s a good series opener that made me look forward to the next books

Lords of Discord by Jocelynn Drake – A family of musically-inclined vampires out to sow discord among their kind? What’s not to love? Claiming Marcus is a promising start. I’m super excited to read about the rest of the Variks

Cabrini Law by Parker St. John – My motivation for this series is Maksim. I wasn’t that impressed with Elliot’s book, Risk Assessment. Elliot and the other lawyers were all likable but Maks stole the spotlight whenever he’s on page.

This list is as comprehensive as it could get. I have a poor record of finishing series so I’m hoping I could finish at least half of those listed here. What series have you started on recently?
