MANGA: Ore ga Suki nado Warawaseru

Ore ga Suki nado Warawaseru – Sato Tsubame
After a night of heavy drinking with his competent and dependable coworker Kamiya, Kaji slowly begins to regain his consciousness… Only to find Kamiya straddled right on top of him, legs spread and wearing nothing but a half-unbuttoned shirt. When Kaji is finally able to muster the energy to get up, he immediately asks Kamiya to explain himself. His response? “Things went sour with my hook-up buddy, and I’ve been pent up lately. That’s all.” Since that day, for some reason, Kaji begins feeling drawn to Kamiya.
This is the story of a recently divorced man, his coworker who’s secretly promiscuous, and the attraction that forms between them, set in the world of the ever-competitive Toto First Bank’s head office.
You Love Me, Huh? Don’t Make Me Laugh is a refreshing salaryman romance that might have started with sekuhara but turned out to be surprisingly wholesome.
Kaji and Kamiya, the bosses from Ore ga Sukinara Hizamazuke and Ore ga Suki nara Kobitemiro, joined the bank at the same time and have been workaholic comrades ever since. One late night, they end up sharing a hotel room.
Kamiya, whoโs gay and has always been attracted to Kaji, finds himself so overwhelmed by desire for his newly divorced colleague that he starts getting off on the sleeping man. When Kaji wakes up, he isnโt offended, instead, he asks Kamiya out. Confused, since Kaji has always been straight, Kamiya turns him down. But Kaji doesnโt give up, and this time Kamiya isnโt exactly resisting.
What makes this manga shine is how these two consummate professionals balance work and romance. They juggle deadlines, conflicts, and stolen kisses behind office doors with an ease that feels both mature and deeply charming. Their ability to stay professional, even when emotions run high, makes their relationship all the more compelling.
The art is a feast for us fujin with suits and hair moe. The mangaka draws realistic, office-appropriate hairstyles and beautifully tailored outfits that make Kaji and Kamiya look stunning whether theyโre in three-piece suits, crisp shirts, or casual wear. If you like ogling gorgeous salarymen, this manga and its prequels are pure eye candy.
Despite the many office scenes and technical dialogue, the pacing never drags. The plot moves fast while the romance slow-burns in a way thatโs both satisfying and emotionally rich. What make this refreshing is watching two grown men communicate openly, handle conflict with maturity, and resolve issues without unnecessary melodrama.
That’s not to say there’s no drama, quite the opposite. The pining and yearning is heartmeltingly delicious, and the very grouchy Kaji with his compulsive do-gooding and tender caring is pure squee-tastic! Lowkey yet impactful, logical yet passionate, this is one seriously swoony manga!

If You Love Me, Be All Over Me is the sequel to Ore ga Sukinara Hizamazuke.
In the last chapter of the prequel, there was a proposal. This installment seems to put the two MCs a few steps backward. Matsuda is still in denial and tries to find attraction in girls but can’t get the insufferable Kato out of his mind.
Kato still dub-cons his way into Matsuda’s pants, which should make him unappealing as a love interest. The mangaka strongly plays Matsuda’s tsundere personality as a foil to Kato’s forwardness. While I don’t approve of Kato’s methods, his feelings for Matsuda are palpable, and I loved how he subtly and overtly supports and admires Matsuda.
The romance secretly unfolds while the plot focuses on workplace happenings with realistic dialogue. I really glossed over most of them but the manga is far from boring. There is plenty of office drama, and romance is compelling.
There are lots of supporting characters adding humor or conflict. Also, I am convinced Kato’s and Matsuda’s supervisors are fucking or should have their own manga.
There is a promise of forever in the end but I wish there was a scene where we see Kato and Matsuda dressed like that in the cover. Flawed as the characters are, it’s not a warm fuzzies kind of relationship. I’m not even sure it would work, but somehow, the manga has me convinced.

MANGA: Ore ga Sukinara Hizamazuke

Ore ga Sukinara Hizamazuke – Sato Tsubame
At Toto First Bank’s head office, the competition is cutthroat for its elite employees. Matsuda and Kato are members of the sales department on the 21st floor. Having joined the team at the same time, Matsuda sees Kato as his ultimate rival. Whether it’s in regards to their conquests with women or their reputation at work, whenever Matsuda thinks he’s one-upped Kato, he ends up getting overshadowed by Kato’s accomplishments, much to his chagrin. One evening in the office, Matsuda finds out his girlfriend has cheated on him, severely wounding his pride. But when Kato sees his frustration, he says the unexpected. “You have bad taste, obsessing over these boring women. You should choose me”… And the very next moment, Matsuda finds Kato’s lips meeting his own!
If You Love Me, Kneel Down is a rivals-to-lovers story about two bankers who joined the company in the same year. Kato is Division A, and Matsuda is Division B, and their divisions compete to close the biggest deals with various companies.
Kato’s division is leading, and Matsuda can’t help but be bitter about it, although he tries to be as civil as possible to his nemesis. Matsuda is also known to be a playboy and currently has a girlfriend, who later cheated on him.
While working overtime one night, he butted heads with Kato about his taste in women. Then, to his shock, Kato kissed him and confessed he liked Matsuda. Matsuda didn’t know how to react, especially when Kato kept wooing him with poker-faced earnestness and occasional grabby hands.
My favorite part is the dynamics between Kato and Matsuda and how the cover is a play on that. We see Matsuda seated in a power pose with Kato in the submissive kneeling position. Note Kato’s smiling expression.
In the manga, Kato as the seme, takes the lead wwhile Matsuda appears to lose control whenever Kato touches him. However, Matsuda has yet to realize the power he has. Kato would bend over backward to give Matsuda whatever he needs, and in one instance, he bends his knees to save Matsuda.
The two MCs are bankers, with Matsuda being the more serious worker and Kato working only to be noticed by his crush. There was some heavy banking business going on. Even with the financial dialogues, it was far from boring with the many side characters humorously gossiping or creating conflict for our MCs.
The office interactions were fun, and I was even hoping the division heads, who also entered the same year and thus rivals, would have their own manga. They were gorgeous in that serious megane-type way.
This is one of those stories where the seme dub-conned his tsundere uke into gayness. Somehow, this negative aspect was offset by how good the manga is as a whole. Overall, an unexpectedly swoony take on the saying one only notices the person ahead of them in a race.
