MANGA: Chichi no Aijin

Chichi no Aijin – Shiomi Chil
High schooler Haruki Niina lives with his novelist father and Junpei, a housekeeper he treats like a big brother. Their three-person household is peaceful on the surface, but Junpei and Haruki’s father are hiding a secret relationship from Haruki… A pure boys’ love romance between a taciturn novelist and his shy, muscular housekeeper.
Father’s Lover is an age gap romance between a novelist and his housekeeper.
Divorced and middle‑aged Kunihiko has lived with Junpei, his loyal housekeeper, since his son Haruki was in grade school. Now a high schooler, Haruki discovers their secret relationship, forcing Junpei to confront his fear that everything is over. Junpei has loved Kunihiko for years, though he believes their bond is purely physical as the older man has not acknowledged his feelings.
The manga explores unconventional love, family, and vulnerability in three POVs. Haruki notices Junpei looking at his father a certain way and only realizes why after he learns that they were lovers. The boy is wise beyond his years, counselling his awkward father on romance after the man expressed his fear of rejection, using his own experience with his girlfriend. He’s thrilled about Kunihiko and Junpei’s relationship since he adores their housekeeper.
Junpei is shy and blushy. Though he is bigger, he’s more submissive and emotional. The mangaka seems to love drawing his muscular body, highlighting the defined muscles and round butt in a way that pops off the page, especially when they’re having sex. This makes the manga both pure and erotic, the romance gentle and dramatic, the smut extra steamy contrasting with Kunihiko’s proper gentleman aura.
Kunihiko is a doting father to Haruki. He’s one of those poker-faced characters whose expressions are so subtle, all you see is a slight lift at the corner of the mouth. He’s not exactly cold, just taciturn and has very little romantic experience. But when he opens his heart, he’s deeply committed. My favorite detail is how the author drew the close-up of his come-hither eyes. I can’t stop staring at it!
Overall, a bestselling blend of tender dynamics and bold intimacy.
