MANGA: Kocchi Muite Waratte

Kocchi Muite Waratte – Ichikawa Kei
Asano, who works part-time at a pub, is one day confessed to by a hot, antisocial coworker, Kakei. However, even after his confession, Kakei doesn’t make any climatic moves, so Asano decides to take the initiative.
Cute is an overly used word for BL manga but how cute is this one?!!! The mangaka certainly mastered creating awkward conversations that induces butterflies. I love that it has both POVs, there are no girls and the seme-uke thing has a twist.

MANGA: Yuki no Shita no Qualia

Yuki no Shita no Qualia – Kii Kanna
Graduate student, Akio, meets his junior partner, Oohashi Umi, as he collapses in his hallway. The next day, he witnesses Umi kissing another man. How will Akio feel about Umi using the name of “Michiru” his sister, and the relationships of a night he has …?
There are many elements in this manga that I don’t like. There’s the promiscuity, the smoking, the boring story, the dearth of fluff and the lack of chemistry. On the upside, the art is nice. Let’s just say there are better manga to waste your time and money on.

MANGA: Gunjou no Subete

Gunjou no Subete – Furuya Nagisa
‘Once noticed, it was…’ From the 1st year of middle school to the 2nd year of high school, Makihara Kai and Mizushiro Ren have been in the same class. But in the last year of their high school lives they are placed into different classes. A small ripple is born in the unchanging days that pass by… that makes the feelings they were unaware of start to bloom. Wanting to tell him, but unable to say it. The answer deep, deep within their hearts is… The path of youth and high school boys unable to voice their love.
The moment I saw the picture above, I just knew I had to read it immediately. Only a first few chapter are out so far but OMG!!!

MANGA: Endou-kun no Kansatsu Nikki

Endou-kun no Kansatsu Nikki – Hayakawa Nojiko
Because of changes in seating arrangements, high school student Tsuda ended up behind the quiet and expressionless Endou. Their interaction is born from a trivial incident, and he begins to see Endou who he has never gotten to know before. That mole, slender nape, and soft hair. The subtle faces that he makes and little changes in his attitude. But Tsuda, who used to be indifferent about others and never made any deep connections, now feels impatient about the distance between him and Endou, who he has been gradually getting closer to. What on earth is drawing these feelings?
When I started reading this, I was pretty meh about the whole thing. I mean what was so special about this Endou guy? Sure he is insanely cute with a mysterious aura but I had come across characters like this before. And then it happened. That big moment…right in the middle of the train station! This has one of the hottest kisses in manga. They were so pure and sweet! Plus I really love it when the author shows the perspective of each person. Oh, and the artwork is lovely.

MANGA: Kanemochi-kun to Binbou-kun

Kanemochi-kun to Binbou-kun – Hideyoshico
Meiji Haruhito (Kanemochi-kun/the rich boy) just can’t understand Misaki (Binbou-kun/the poor boy), but quickly falls for him anyway. However, Haruhito’s love life is under threat. Not from a cute girl or ex-lover, but from his own grandfather. The boys’ grandfathers knew each other when they were young and Haruhito’s grandpa is delighted when he meets Misaki, who looks and acts like his late friend and (unrequited) love. from shinkeikaku.
Not gonna lie but the moments with the grandfather made me feel slightly queasy. I guess they were meant to be sweet but I don’t really like huge age gaps. I wish the author focused more on the actual couple but this one is for fans of the author.

MANGA: 500-nen no Itanami

500-nen no Itanami – Yamanaka Hiko
“I’m sorry I don’t bear much resemblance – I love you.”
Yamada Torao commits suicide after the loss of his lover and wakes up from suspended animation 250 years in the future. The android tasked with assisting him that treats him kindly and with tender care is the disappointing robot of his former lover at a “30% reduction”…? An intense future love story about a stubborn young man who learns to accept love and pursues his aspirations.
First, the cover art is beautiful. Second, all that FEELS.

MANGA: Hello Again

Hello Again – Ichikawa Kei
Onoda is avoiding his childhood friend, Hiroto, because of what he did in the past while the other is wondering what happened and why he is being avoided. But because Onoda was ignoring a teacher in school, Hiroto had to drag him in to the counselor’s office, and that’s when their friendship started blooming again. Will Hiroto find out why he is being avoided?
BL readers already know how good Ichikawa-sensei’s stories are. Colorful Line Blue Sky Complex and Slow Starter are favorites. Hello Again tells you not to do underage drinking especially when you have repressed feelings and I do love it but probably slightly, very slightly less than the others.
Things I like about it:
a. both POVs are shown
b. Hiroto seems so chill about the whole thing except during moment when he was sad
c. their friendship is intact despite the change in status
d. 99.999999% shounen aiThing I don’t like about it? Nothing, really or maybe just the fact that Onoda sleeps with girls.

MANGA: High School Lullaby

High School Lullaby – Hideyoshico
From Must Be Endless: The popular boy in class and a boy who plays the devil’s advocate (has a girlfriend).
If your kink is messed up seme-uke dynamics, here’s a one-shot for you.

Overweight student Akihiro Haruki has fallen in love with the compassionate Saeki-sensei. Many years later, fate reunites the two men, and although Akihiro has lost his excess weight, he never lost his feelings for Saeki-sensei…
Cute and silly!
