This Year I Am Reading…
Ricardo Torralba and August Morrison don’t agree on much besides the fact that they hate each other. According to Ricardo, August is a spoiled brat who really needs to knock off the sass once in a while. August insists that Ricardo needs a sense of humor, a good lay, or a well-placed bullet. Maybe all three.
I thought this was two hitmen trying to kill each other but fell in love with one another instead. Well, it was kind of that but it was really two hitmen working together to find out who was trying to kill them both.
Being a huge fan of the L.A. Witt and Cari Z collabs, I immediately jumped into this. While not the same caliber as their Bad Behavior series, so far, it’s one fun, OTT romp after another. Sooner or later one of them will catch a bullet…
Last Year I Was Reading…
August 1939. Roger Miller and Jack O’Brien have been close since childhood. By the time they realize there’s more between them than friendship, Jack is leaving their sleepy Iowa town for college. But they console themselves knowing he’ll be home for Christmas. Right?

Another L.A. Witt book for me. This time, a Christmas love story set during and after the second world war when love between two men was taboo. It’s sweet and full of yearning. I love how the author was able to deftly give these two men their believable HEA in such an era.

Two very different books from the same author.
Hitman vs Hitman is a contemporary, action-suspense novel with lots of ridiculous stunts, humorous banter and flying bullets. It’s an enemies-to-lovers, opposites attract romance between hired guns, Ricardo and August, who realized their skills complemented each other perfectly despite their very opposite personalities.
Christmas Homecoming is a childhood friends-to-lovers, forbidden romance, historical novel about two ex-soldiers, Roger and Jack. The tone is more serious and bittersweet, dealing with heavy subjects such as PTSD and homophobia. However, the overall vibe is still warm and the scenes were touching. The book is part of The Christmas Angel series, where a carved Christmas angel worked its magic to bring people together so there is a magic realism element in play.
Roger and Jack are two cinnamon rolls I’m giving lots of hugs to but I’m so ready to go on a mission with Ricardo and August because blowing up bad guys is fun!
I’m ending the post with a book I’m looking forward to reading.
When Aodhan decides he wants to get know Thomas better, he offers him a window into a complicated history that influenced the lives of shifters in the whole of Australia, and faces the possibility of Thomas learning too much about his dark past.

They couldn’t face their truths alone, but if they’re willing to face them together, Aodhan and Thomas may get the love they’ve always yearned for.

The shifter genre is dominated by overbearing alphas so The Gentle Wolf immediately piqued my interest for having the frequently overlooked beta as the MC. Add to that a demisexual omega love interest and we have a potentially sweet, heartwarming and unique shifter love story. Come here, my soft boys!
